CONSTRUCTION DETAILS OF THE INSPIRATION 11

The Inspiration 11m and 1050 catamaran are built in accordance with plans by the designer, Mr Roger Simpson and the approved laminates and procedures set forth by Lloyds AAA specifications for FRP construction. The hull construction is a combination of  woven roving and chopped strand matt.  The hull gelcoat is ISO  NPG  and the resins used throughout the hull construction are Isothalic. There is a reinforcing PVC CORE foam above the waterline and solid fibreglass construction is used below the waterline and mini keels.

The deck is fibreglass construction using PVC foam for stiffening in the cabin top and deck. Solid fibreglass construction is used for the cabin sides. The foam core is replaced with plywood inserts in areas of high stress where fittings are attached. The deck construction is a combination of woven rovings and chopped strand matt and the resin used is orthothalic.

All structural bulkheads are hand bonded using woven roving and chopped strand mat.
